Starcomms connects Abeokuta in southwest Nigeria

Nigeria's leading CDMA (code division multiple access) provider and fourth-largest telecommunications operator, Starcomms Limited, has expanded its network to connect Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
“For quite some time now, we have been having a series of inquiries from potential subscribers on when we will link Abeokuta to our network," said Starcomms Nigeria Marketing Director Manoj Vashisht. "It has gotten quite deafening of late, and we feel it is time to allow Abeokuta to have a taste of our bouquet of products.’’
Starcomms' license covers the provision of nationwide triple-play -- mobile, fixed wireless voice and wireless broadband services -- and, according to Vashisht, all services will be available to subscribers in Abeokuta.
The company's phased expansion is driven by the goal to position itself as the “fastest-growing network," Vashisht said. Starcomms has already established itself in the key cities of Lagos, Ibadan, Kano, Rano, Aba, Onitsha, Asaba, Maiduguri, Benin, Kaduna, Zaria and Port Harcourt, and plans are in the advanced stages to link other cities this year.
