Online forum partners with NGO to draw focus on Sierra Leone
29 Oct, 2008
An online discussion forum, MyAfricanDiaspora.com, announced Monday that it is partnering with the ZCD Foundation, a nonprofit nongovernmental organization, to help bring international focus to the issues affecting post-conflict Sierra Leone.
According to information on the forum’s Web site, the partnership was prompted by the fact that the two entities share similar goals of bringing hope and dignity to the poor in depressed and disadvantaged rural communities, and of improving their standard of living.
MyAfricanDiaspora aims to bridge the gap between people of African descent separated by the transatlantic slave trade through its interactive news and information network, while the ZCD Foundation is focused on improving the welfare of impoverished communities and promoting sustainable livelihoods in post-conflict Sierra Leone.
Some of the issues the partnership will focus on are the provision of safe drinking water and proper sanitary facilities, and improving the quality of primary health care delivery services.
