T-Mobile to launch a second Android phone in early summer

T-Mobile USA said today it is launching its second Android phone "early this summer," but the carrier didn't say which device will carry the G2 name. .
"T-Mobile is planning to offer the follow-on device to the T-Mobile G1 early this summer," the company said in a statement. "We'll have more details to share on this exciting Android-powered device later this month."
The carrier's parent company earlier said the G1 has sold more than 1 million units, and T-Mobile USA has talked about introducing new Android manufacturers. HTC makes the G1 and unveiled the HTC Magic in February, sparking speculation that the next Android phone from T-Mobile USA will be the Magic.
Google Inc., which is the lead supporter of the Open Handset Alliance that has developed the Android operating system, has said that more than 18 Android phones will be on the market globally by the end of the year.
June has already become a busy month for new smarpthone news, with Sprint Nextel Inc. putting the Palm Pre on sale this Saturday and with Apple Inc. expected to describe new iPhone hardware for the already announced iPhone 3.0 software on Monday.
